Opuntia Ficus Indica (Lat.) belongs to the Cactaceae cactus family and is commonly known as Opuntia or Prickly pear. The plant is native to Mexico, but today it can be found in various (semi)-arid regions of the world, such as Morocco.
Prickly pear is known as a miracle plant because of its ability to survive in extreme conditions. Its fruit contains many small seeds from which valuable cactus oil is obtained. This oil should not be confused with cheap cactus oils that can be found on the market and are produced from cactus flowers soaked in mineral oil. Mineral oils are petroleum products and an ingredient in many cosmetic products.
Argan oil is extracted from the kernel of the fruit of the Argan tree and we use the cold pressed process, to preserve all the benefits of oil. Nicknamed the “the tree of life,” this wild, thorny tree grows exclusively in southwestern Morocco.
